Why I Choose Penn

UPenn’s College of Engineering is among the finest in the world. Penn is well known for it's programs such as the Penn Integrates Knowledge initiative and award-winning professors like Dr. Kumar, whose robotics research earned him induction to the National Academy of Engineers. All faculty members approach their subject matter with unmatched enthusiasm and vivacity, providing students an incomparable opportunity to master their content. But what attracts me the most is that the school does not rest; every member of the Penn family still vows to improve all facets in the coming years under the Penn Compact 2020 initiative. I could have the opportunity to help make Penn the best school in the world and conduct groundbreaking research in the engineering field. The college’s hands-on learning environment perfectly suits my learning style and will greatly complement in-class instruction in furthering …show more content…
One of the many reasons I am choosing Penn is because the senior engineering project is geared to do exactly that. Students must implement their engineering knowledge into a useful, innovative product. A famous example includes the bread zamboni, which helps the Franklin Field staff clean the field after the traditional toast to Penn. Through this design project, I can test out an idea of mine to better society, even if it only affects one club or organization on campus. I can follow in the footsteps of some of the greatest engineers of our time. So many Penn grads, including Elon Musk and Warren Buffett, have gone on to become household names. If I make a groundbreaking discovery in reusable spacecraft, for example, I could get the opportunity to add my name to that list. Penn also offers hundreds of student organizations ranging from religious clubs to specialized career groups. I know that just like in my high school, I will fit into many niches at Penn, and I can have a positive impact on

Before addressing why Pitt is a good choice for me, I would like to review why I am a good choice for Pitt. The University of Pittsburgh values their “talented, diverse and high achieving students”, their “safe and healthy campuses”, their unique balance of “fun and camaraderie with internships and other learning opportunities outside the classroom”, and their focus on “developing students into global citizens” (University of Pittsburgh webpage, ‘Prospective Students’). I am a well-rounded student who places priority upon academics, as well as a broad array of performing arts extracurricular activities, over 300 hours of community service, several job experiences and religious organizations. Therefore, if admitted to The University of Pittsburgh, I would fit right in with the ardent and accomplished student body, just as I would benefit as a person and as…

The three main reasons: I want to be an encouragement to my children, I want a solid career foundation, plus enhancing my education will also help me to improve my own self-assurance. As the senior project comes to an end, I am truly excited about the benefit my influence has had on the community. My senior project was just another step to the legacy that I have implemented in Warren County. Thinking back to freshman year, senior project seemed so boring and far away.
