Why I Become The First President (SHAC)

Improved Essays
As a young child, I was the outcast, the shy girl who turned bright red when feeling embarrassed. Being bullied lowered my self-confidence, until I entered Infinity Early College High School. The students and staff helped me grow and overcome my fear. I strive to help those who are in the same shoes I once was in by extending my hand out to them. I listen and bring words of wisdom to comfort and show them that their struggles are not definite. I have had several emotional and mental bumps along the road that instead of letting them dictate my future and my accomplishments, they have been key in helping me become the leader I am today. One of my greatest experiences so far has been taking initiative in becoming the first president of SHAC

During my senior year of high school, I was the National Honor Society Treasurer. When I ran for this position, I was oblivious to responsibility, time, and effort I was bound to confront, however, when my term was up, I realized that I went in as just an officer and left as a leader. As treasurer, I was responsible for going beyond the minimal fifty hours of community service—as well as verifying the time other members completed.…

Although my high school years are mostly defined through academic success, I would have to say my most meaningful achievements came through the North Carolina FFA. This national organization provides me with countless opportunities to showcase my leadership abilities in my school, community, and state. Obtaining the positions of Vice President and President of my high school FFA chapter has had an enormous impact on my life. These positions led to serving on nominating committees, planning community events, attending leadership conventions and conferences, and participating in a state-qualifying parliamentary procedure team. It was these experiences that gave me a passion for public speaking and Agribusiness.…

Trace Larson’s Testimony This testimony starts out when I was a young child born from my mother. I was born into a Christian home. The Christian faith was brought up into my life ever since I was born but I never made faith my own until I was most likely either 8th grade or a freshman in high school. I started going to pre-school when I was six, and did not learn very much at all.…

Inspiring others, although sometimes a difficult task, can be a lifetime goal for many people. It requires the ability to persuade and emotionally connect to one’s audience in order to inspire them. Ralph Waldo Emerson defines success as “to know even one life has breathed easier because you have lived” (qtd. in Earhart). Waldo believes that success can be found by making someone else’s life better, so we decided to accomplish this by discussing the topic of bullying. Our goal was to inspire several groups of eighth graders to stand up to this issue of bullying.…

My heart is beating quickly, my mouth is dry, and as I look at the familiar faces in front of me, their judging eyes make them seem like strangers. I struggle to get them to quiet down and we begin our hour long sectional, which I have to lead. It was the first day of my third year in marching band and at the end of last year, with the graduation of the previous section leader, I was granted his important position. Being a competitive person, I was extremely self conscience of how my section made me look. I hated being blamed for their errors and was exceedingly harsh towards them during sectionals.…

When asked the question, “what is your biggest accomplishment in the area of leadership,” the same answer comes to mind every time. It is an easy question for me to answer because of the tremendous impact this experience had on my life. In my junior year of high school, the SkillsUSA advisors repeatedly approached me about the SkillsUSA Pennsylvania Western Region Leadership Conference. I didn’t know what it was until they eventually pulled me and a few top students from my school aside and told us about having a “tryout” to see who would best fit to become an officer at the leadership conference. Each of us presented a prepared speech and an extemporaneous speech.…

Before I go into detail regarding my qualifications and other adjustments I would like to make as President, I would like to explain why I wish to become President. When I first came into Syracuse University, I wanted to find a place where I could nurture myself and build skills that would make me become a better leader, especially in the field of business. So, in the second week of school, I joined various business clubs such as the Financial Management Club, the Entrepreneurship Club, and the Investment Club because I believed that these clubs could help build me. However, when I first saw Alpha Kappa Psi tabling, I was immensely hooked. The whole atmosphere of the fraternity was very different from the various clubs I was in.…

After six years of crippling bullying at my old school, my parents had finally decided to send me to the all-girls Catholic school. Although fourth grade was not as bad as the years prior, it was not much better. Even before the age of ten, I had my first encounter with depression and what I later realized to be social anxiety. Even though I was no longer a victim, I was — for lack of a better word — numb. While I met a few people at Bay View, I did not really have friends.…

A Thousand Experiences Throughout life, individuals face different obstacles and struggles; my obstacle was my tendency to be shy. For example, when I was faced with social pressures like speaking in front of a class for a presentation, or meeting new people, I would be a nervous wreck. My palms would sweat, my voice would tremble, and it took all the strength I could muster to overcome my irrational fears. I only had a small, albeit close knit group of friends due to my introverted ways.…

Growing up was not the funniest time for me, I hated elementary school and most of high school. I went to a very small school so my options of friends was very limited. I hung out with the “cool kids” I’d guess you would say. In the movies everyone wants to be a part of the cool kids, but it was not that great. In elementary, kids would make fun of me, they would call me stupid, would tell me I was not good at anything.…
