Why I Apply To College

Improved Essays
I have chosen to apply to the University of Central Florida because it will provide great opportunities out of school and while I’m still in school. Another reason I have chosen to apply is because it is far enough away from home to where I can gain my independence and find who I am without my parents around and because it is close enough to where in the event of an emergency I can still be home fairly quickly.

In my life there has been multiple obstacles/bumps in the road in both my academic and personal life. Staring with my academic obstacles, both my elementary and middle school were not the best and left me with many gaps in my education, such as in math and science. I have had to work very hard in order to make up for those deficiencies

My first reason is because I felt I wasn’t being challenged in school. I knew if I went to FSW I would be challenged and I would learn important life skills such as time management, critical thinking and organization skills. My second reason is because in eight grade I was bullied a lot, and I wanted a fresh start far away from everyone I knew.…

A reason why I would want to go to college would because it would help get me to places I want to be in life such as helping me get a good paying job or th position I would want. Another reason why I want to go to college would also be because I want to see what it is like to attend a college and at least try it out. While in college I hope to work part time to earn some sort of income as well but if I am going to be working it is only going to be a short term job till I earn the degree I would need and land a job as either a preschool or daycare assistant. I chose to become a preschool teacher/ daycare assistant because I love working with kids and feel like I would have the things I would need to qualify me in becoming those things such…

For this reason, is why I need to attend college. To render the immense sacrifices my parents endured in order to come to this country, signify something. Enrolling in college and graduating with a degree is one of the best ways I can repay everything they did for me. Why Go to College? Jiddu Krishnamurti once wrote, “There is no end to education. It is not that you read a book, pass an examination, and finish with education. The whole of life, from that moment you are born to the moment you die, is a process of learning.” People go to college to get a direction for life.…

Why are you in College? “You must go to college to succeed in life.” This quote is something my parents would regularly say to me as a kid growing up. I grew up thinking every other person in the room with me at school would also graduate with me because I didn’t think there was another route. When I got to high school and realized some people actually did not intend on going to high school it blew my mind.…

As a high school senior, the question I am most used to hearing is, “where do you want to go to college,” and my habitual response is the Wharton Undergraduate School of Business at the University of Pennsylvania. But I think that the more apt question is “why do you want to go to college?” Personally, I want to learn. The Wharton motto of “knowledge for action” embodies this desire to learn and use this knowledge to pursue a career in something that engages and interests me. I am an aspiring investment banker and international business executive and am intrigued by mergers and acquisitions, investment banking from an international perspective, and the effect of international events on the global economy and the ensuing effect on corporations.…

Coming from a low-income family I was hesitant to attend a UC due to the higher tuition rates than a CSU or community college. However, my application for UC's was a graduation requirement in my high school due to having a higher GPA than my peers so I submitted my application for UCSC without thinking I would get accepted or attend the university. Due to this, at the time, I failed to submit FAFSA on time for UCSC along with other documents that could help my application such as official SAT and ACT transcripts and passing AP testing scores. As the first of May approached, I was having a difficult time choosing what I would choose to do after high school. In these moments of hesitancy I discussed my situation with multiple trusted adults and…

University of Madison-Wisconsin is unique in that it’s the only school located in our state capital. Therefore, some reasons I would like to attend this university would be because of its academic diversity, location, and size of the campus. As of now, my intended major is definitely undecided because I have no ideas what I plan on doing with the rest of my life. I presume that the University of Madison-Wisconsin, with its 136 majors, will be able to provide me with many different academic opportunities. I favor this because then, if I end up changing my major or wanting a certificate, I wouldn’t have to switch college because Madison is full of many different academic options.…
