Positive Contribution

There are many ways to get involved in politics. One can vote, educate themselves on important topics, run for office, help another person run for office, or even bash others who are running for a government position. As far as education goes, there are always things to be learned. I believe that I am educated enough to make a positive contribution. I keep up with most issues that arise and are worth taking sides on. I choose sides not only based on things I need or want, but more on what would make the most positive impact on society. Too many are in it for only themselves and propose ridiculous things without so much as taking one other human life into account. Participating in politics is important. It is a way to make a positive impact …show more content…
The more educated the better. Any person who is not educated about what they are doing in politics is a threat. They could be voting for a totalitarian genocide enthusiast for all they know. This is why not everyone should vote. If one has not done enough research to know what they are voting for, then they should contribute by being idle. Many politicians try to appeal to this crowd for a couple reasons: they are not educated enough to have a foundation of beliefs and are easily swayed, and unfortunately, this crowd seems to be growing exponentially. If I were running for office and was only concerned about votes, I would say things that appeal to less educated, lower class people. I would do this because they are the ones that you can make believe almost anything. These people do not have any business participating in politics until they truly form solid, educated …show more content…
There are things that help tremendously that not all people have. These primarily include money and publicity. Those two things alone can get someone the attention they need to be elected. At that point it comes down to how the people think about what direction they want to take with the office they are running for. On the other hand, there are plenty of ways to get money in the United States. If one works hard in high school and applies for lots of scholarships, they can have a free college education to help them obtain a high-paying job. Doing this is certainly harder for some than others. Nonetheless, it is still doable. Publicity is harder to come by than money. Negative publicity is easy to get. All one has to do is commit a terrible crime. Publicity than can get them elected for a government office is a completely different beast. Honestly I have no idea how people get that kind of publicity without pushing very hard for it with advertisements. Politics are complicated but simple at the same time. There are so many grey areas on subjects. On top of that, people are constantly trying to create grey areas in situations that are clearly black and white. Feeling as if you made a contribution is very hard to do, even if you truly are making some sort of impact. On top of it all there are political wrecking balls that have no idea where they are swinging. Politics just seem

Elections have been a part of deciding the President in the United States since John Adams was elected President in 1796. Elections have become a routine process repeated every four years; where politicians debate their way into becoming are next President. But if you take a look at the current election cycle you would be a little confused. In the 2016 Presidential race there are three candidates that are not even politicians in the campaign. And on top of them being in the race they are all doing exceptional well, collectively having most of the people’s top vote.…

The political game is a dog eat dog world, there are many factors that determined whether a politician will make it or break it. Having alliances, enemies, and compromises is all part of the job. In the book “Hardball: How Politics Is Played” written by Chris Mathews he explains that anyone can get ahead and play the game of politics but, the secret to the game is, one must have a certain advantage/quality over the average politician, and they use this quality of theirs to make any disadvantage into an advantage. And the lessons Chris states in the book that gives a person an advantage are these. Chris Matthews three lessons for someone to get ahead in life/politics is “Don’t get mad, get even.”…

Growing up this quote by Malcom X sets the tone for my attitude towards education. “Education is the passport to the future, for tomorrow belongs to those who prepare for it today.” In today’s world, a higher education is the cornerstone of life. Regarding the debate of a liberal education over the years, I concur with Shorris and his points in “On the Uses of a Liberal Education as a Weapon in the Hands of the Restless Poor” and want to qualify with Edmundson’s points in “On the Uses of a Liberal Education as Lite Entertainment for Bored College Students”. Edmundson used to think that a liberal education was beneficial for everyone and was originally for self-betterment.…

We are all low-information voters, meaning that we do not focus on politics often. We vote based on how much coverage the media covered on the topic. So, we use information shortcuts to quickly decide which side to vote for. Voters mainly look at party identification because they usually have the same ideals. They decided who to trust with their decisions and people do not change their party identity fluidly.…

It has also been found that many young adults register and vote in order to appease their guardians. Yet, many young voters have not had enough experience with these political campaigns in order to ensure they have made an educated vote. In total, a well-educated vote means more than a forced, unknowing vote. A local government teacher took his stance on the subject when he stated, “Let me take my educated vote and let it mean something rather than you deciding our future blindly.” Many Americans would agree with this statement as some who vote…

In addition, pro-Clinton groups have spent $43 million, bringing the total amount spent on Clinton ads to $104 million. " If one was able to have the amount of money that was used for advertisements to enhance political education to uniformed voters, it could extremely affect mandatory voting. Rather than letting people be persuaded by an advertisement, with little background knowledge of what the politician is actually trying to do, people could work together to enforce political education for everyone.…

Throughout our adolescent years, many of us received constant bombardment about attending college after high school. Those with the willpower and motivation in most cases tend to go down the college path; others will see little to no value in the vast expense of college for their chosen trade. Over the years, thru various studies it has been proven that college graduates in most cases earn more over their lifetime compared to high school graduates. On the other hand, you have the occasional high school dropout with the perseverance to work their way up the industry chain eventually if the opportunity is present become paid equal or greater than their fellow classmate. This course of action continually raises one question; is going to college worth…

Politics has always been, is, and will always be a controversial issue. Everyone observes different views on various topics, even those who do not submerge themselves in politics. Furthermore, when Aristotle used the words “political animal” to describe a human, he kept in mind that people perceive things in ways that are not always similar to the way others see things. It is human nature to argue; it is human nature to want to hold power; it is human nature to want to be right; it is human nature to interact with other humans.…
