Why I Am Blue

Improved Essays
There are billions of people living on this Earth and each one of them have their own personality. One way we try to depict the differences and similarities is with a personality test debating on colors. When based on a personality test, the color blue can be described as passionate and more importantly someone who feels compassionate. For those reasons, I am blue. I am a passionate person when it comes to things that involve politics or social issues. One incident when I was very passionate was during the 2016 election with the candidates, Hillary Clinton and Donald Trump. It was not a secret that I did not approve of a Trump presidency and I always tried to influence my family members and friends who could vote to make the right decision.

In the past couple of years, I have learned a lot about myself and the world around me, and many factors, including A.P. Gov, have contributed to my political ideology, interpretation of the American Dream, Political culture, and future participation in politics. To begin with, I will talk about how I interpret the American Dream. When I think of the American Dream, I think of the sixties’ view of the perfect family, with two kids and a nice house fenced in with white picket. I see the ability for anyone to move up the socioeconomic ladder, no matter who they are.…

In Lawrence Wright essay, the thesis in “America’s Future is Texas” is that Texas is a politically divided state just like other states of America. However, the Texas legislature is more functional than the United States Congress and more refined than the House of Commons. But a recurrent crop of crackpots and ideologies has fed the state's reputation and proudly retrograde politics (Wright, 2017). Moreover, Wright uses colorful language to describe the politics of Texas and uses rough stories in government figures.…

In my opinion, the ideal Youth and Government participant has a passion for the winding world of American politics and is not just doing it for fun. When I first heard about this club, it was the mixer that came up first in the conversation. “Yeah the rest of the stuff is kind of boring, but the mixer is really fun!” This, in my opinion, is not the ideal MOYIG participant. A quote that would represent such a person would be something like, “If you are into politics and want to have fun while learning a lot, MOYIG is for you!”…

Throughout the course of this semester, our political parties course covered a variety of topics. Additionally, the class took part in numerous polls, including our individual political affiliation. One finding that I particularly found interesting was that no one in the class really identified themselves as a true independent. Even though some students were more drawn to one party or the other, several students also identified themselves as weakly tied to their specific party. In class, we discussed how those individuals who are more politically informed than the average American citizen are more likely to have a stronger opinion one way or the other on politics.…

Upon completing the “Word Cluster Sheet” I tallied up all the points, and I was assigned green. Green is not a color I have ever seen myself as, but from intellectual to abstract I feel this personality test was extremely accurate. In the learning environment section, the personality sheet mentions that I would prefer neat, orderly, nice and quiet when I study I want nothing more. This list is very accurate save for a few words I don’t think I am heartless or…

Politics was something that was never passed on to me. My mother, a native Cuban who witnessed the Cuban Revolution at a very young age, and my father, the son of a Pennsylvanian blue-collar worker, have never been deeply involved in politics. They never thought, however, that they would have a son who would be engaged in government. Currently, I serve as the chair of the Florida High School Democrats, the official caucus of High School Students at the Florida Democratic Party. I created this organization to increase awareness of government and to combat voter apathy, a recurring theme within the youth community.…

Trying desperately to stay awake as the hot, humid air slowly overtook me, I took a quick moment and looked around the room. First, the man standing next to the podium - his loud Brooklyn accent cutting through the hot humid air of an early summer night in New England – had the attention of everyone in attendance. This event was originally scheduled to be held at a small coffee shop in downtown Portsmouth, N.H. However, due to the larger than expected turnout, organizers had been left scrambling to find a more suitable location to meet the demand. Fortunately, a local church had offered their chapel at the last possible moment.…

Politics affect every single thing in our lives, because politics are the basis of how our government responds to the problems we face everyday. Even if we don’t care to admit it, each and everyone of us have political views. These views form the foundation of our political identities. However, we are not born with these political identities. Each identity is the culmination of our views on each issue, efficacy, and party affiliations all of which are formed gradually as we are exposed to different influences in our lives.…
