Why I Am An Accountant Student Essay

Currently, I am a junior majoring in Accounting. Even though I am an accountant student, I’ve always had a love and passion to help others. At one point in time, I’ve thought about the occupation of social work. According to dictionary.com social work is defined as organized work directed toward the betterment of social conditions in the community, by seeking to improve the condition of the poor, and to promote the welfare of children and individuals. Social work is a possible occupation I may pursue after obtaining my accounting degree. By this being an occupation I might consider pursuing, I figured that conducting my career exploration on this field would be a great idea. In general, social workers help people solve and cope with problems in their everyday lives. There are many types of social workers. Child and family, clinical, school, healthcare, and mental health and substance abuse are a few. Despite the various different types of social workers, they all share the same common aspect, advocacy. Each day, social workers go throughout their daily lives advocating or raising awareness with and on the behalf of their clients and the social work profession on local, state and national levels. Constantly, they are identifying people and communities in need of help, researching and referring individuals to community resources, and following up to ensure the needs of the individual are being met.
