My Journey To Becoming A Teacher

For me, deciding to become a teacher has been the culmination of a lot of different things. When trying to decide what my next steps would be after high school I did a lot of self-reflecting and realized teaching children was where my heart was. I had a moment in my life that really made me realize why teaching is the career path I should take. I became the leader for the three through four year olds at my church and fell in love. Nothing put a bigger smile on my face than when I woke up on Sundays knowing I got to see my sweet babies. That experience showed me exactly why I want to strive to become a great teacher and make an impact on children’s lives just like them. I am determined to make a difference to each and every child that I encounter along my career path. My legacy will be one that shows I prepared my students well, guided them responsibly and loved them whole-heartedly. I will be the teacher that they remember, and remember fondly. I want them to feel comfortable enough with me that they can come to me with anything, because trust is the most essential key in teaching. I hope that my legacy will have my students exiting my classroom feeling prepared for their new endeavor and confident that they will be successful in pursuing their dreams. I hope that when I retire from being a teacher that I can look back and know that I have successfully accomplished the tasks of preparing my students for their future learning and helped them to become productive individuals in society. To accomplish this, I will need to prepare them academically and socially. I hope I am successful in making every child know that their dreams can come true if they will believe in themselves. Educational philosophies express how a teacher plans on relating curriculum to his/her students and how they will run their classroom and its environment. An educational philosophy is not only how a teacher plans on teaching his/her students in the classroom, but what he/she can teach them for the outside world. There are many different educational philosophies that target different aspects of performance from students. I, admire many of the educational philosophies, but focus mainly on two that I believe are more of my style and reflect how I hope to live out in my teaching career. One philosophy that I admire and agree with is existentialism. Existentialists believe that each individual is fully responsible for their choices and that they can make the best of themselves. I admire this educational philosophy because I believe that it is up to the individual themselves to make the best out of their lives despite some of their circumstances. I believe that students can take hardships in their life and use them as a push to better themselves and make their life better than what it was like
