Ms. Simpson Teacher

Improved Essays
We all had plenty of teachers in our education that were unpleasant or mind-numbing, but once in a while we get a tremendous teacher who ends up being our favorite teacher. For me, that teacher was Ms. Simpson, she was my 9th grade biology teacher. I have never been too fond of science’s classes and that reflected in my past academics, but Ms. Simpson made biology class a wonderful time. Ms. Simpson’s 9th grade biology class is the reason I want to be a teacher and the reason I am taking this class. A quote from Aristotle states “Educating the mind without educating the heart is no education at all” (Aristotle). Ms. Simpson turned something I hate learning into something I learned to love. I want to become an excellent teacher like Ms. Simpson; I want to inspire my students and to make them love learning. When a teacher teaches her students how to love learning than the student will learn more because students need to love what they are learning in order to learn.

However, we also have had some teachers who were superb and they became our favorite teacher. For me that teacher was Ms. Simpson, she was my 9th grade biology teacher and she made you love learning about biology. When students love learning, then they will learn what you are teaching. Teachers need to not only teach subjects, but need to teach students how to love learning. Ms. Simpson was such an incredible teacher that she made me love learning about biology. I hope taking classes like Child in American can help me become a teacher like Ms. Simpson. I have already learned that teachers are much more than just teachers, they are advisors, listeners and second-parents. Teachers go way beyond their job description to make sure all their students are prepared and ready to learn. I hope that this class will help me become the best teacher I could possibly be and help me to be on my way to becoming someone’s favorite

There are a lot of good teachers and a lot of bad teachers as well. A great teacher has a confidence that shows the student that the teacher is in charge. The 2nd grade classroom of Jody Craddock-Iselin has 20 students and each of them has their own personality. I have been observing this class every Thursday from 8 a.m. to 12 p.m. where I am learning so much about how to teach. I have taught two whole group lessons where I have learned that sometimes you have to teach on the student’s level to help them learn and understand the lesson better. I also have got the opportunity to teach a guided reading lesson which has helped me to understand students on different levels of the reading scale. I think that I am doing well in this class and I am learning so much from my teacher.…

Observation Reflection Throughout my time observing Mrs. Botta 1st grade classroom at Mayfield Elementary, I learned about what means to be a teacher. Over the few weeks of two hour sessions, I was able to build a strong relationship with Mrs. Botta and her eleven students. Witnessing Mrs. Botta teach language arts, math, and good ethics enlighten me to how demanding being a teacher truly is. Mayfield Elementary implements several daily sessions of spelling, reading, and comprehension in their first grade classrooms. Beginning with Response to Intervention, also referred to as RTI, Mrs. Botta’s students dispersed to other classrooms to receive concentrated help in language arts, math, or enrichment activities.…

I anxiously looked out the window at the familiar sites: cows grazing, tractors roaring, and palmetto bushes gently swaying in the summer breeze. Then, the classroom door squeaked. A statuesque woman walked in, Mrs. Able, our new teacher. She smiled and immediately announced: “You can do anything in life, as long as you want to learn and care about others!” Mrs. Able, while not the last teacher to inspire me, was the first.…

I agree with Hooks that teachers are never done learning, that it is their job to be able to continuously evolve and be able to teach their students. This learning the teachers require comes from the students in their class as well. “I journey with the students as they progress in their lives beyond our classroom experience. In many ways, I continue to teach them, even as they become more capable of teaching me” (Hooks 205). I felt that this quote helped demonstrate the connection that the student and the teacher should have.…

By the end of the day, I felt like I will never be a good teacher. I had no control over the children and felt like I could have done better. Reading this quote and the rest of “Teaching from Within”, made me feel better at becoming a teacher. I learned that we are going to have our good and bad days. I know that through it all I am going to have to suffer like the other day to end up having great days because it is something that I love and I want to make a difference in children's lives.…

1 I come from a long line of educators and administrators on both sides of my family. Various relatives of mine have taught me to understand and appreciate the importance of education. This being the case, they have inspired my decision to be a teacher, preferably an elementary school teacher. Last year, I sat in on my aunt’s third grade class at Washington Irving, an elementary school in my district that I attended for three years. After visiting the classroom a handful of times, I absolutely fell in love.…

    American Education Reform

The American Education System is considered to be ranked 36th in the world wide ranks of education systems as of 2013 (Coleman). This ranking indicates that there is a major problem with the American Education System. Though many people believe that reform must come in the form of larger budgets this is not the case, money actually does not have a direct link with student performance (Robinson). The reform for the American Education System needs to come in the form of teachers with more will and want to help, focusing on the true needs of students and shifting the focus from testing to real learning. From the start, teachers have had one of the biggest impacts on a student’s education experience.…

Throughout my educational career I have not experienced too many failures or setbacks. That is not to say that subjects have always come naturally to me, but with hard work, time, and energy, I have been able to meet my academic goals in my classes. The greatest academic challenge came to me in my two college physics courses. While my professor was one of the most intelligent professors I have encountered and clearly knew very advanced physics, he seemed to struggle with communicating basic physics concepts to the class. The professor lectured to us, rarely provided visuals or real world examples, and was not open to students having questions or needing extra help.…

Although teaching is a field that is extremely rewarding, it also comes with its share of challenges. These challenges can be overcome, however, if the teacher believes in their students ability to learn, and is able to inspire and motivate them. The teacher can accomplish this task through motivating the students through lessons, tests, and a positive classroom environment. If the teacher is fully committed to their student’s best interests, the classroom will ultimately succeed, even if there are challenges along the way.…

“A good teacher can inspire hope, ignite the imagination, and instill a love of learning”. (Brad Henry) Not every person can be a teacher; it takes a certain kind of individual to be a teacher. Some qualities that teachers consume are patient, kindness, passionate, knowledge, and heart, also there are other many formal qualities that a teacher must need to be successful. At twelve years old in seventh grade I had this teacher that inspired me to become a teacher and ever since then, becoming a teacher has been a priority.…
