One year later, Rolland graduated among the top ten per-cent of his class. He moved to Sacramento, California to work for the Intersystem Electronic Company. Crystal was going to college to become a nurse. She had wanted to be a nurse ever since she was a little girl. During her senior year in college, she worked at Trumbull Memorial Hospital part time. When she graduated, the hospital asked her to stay there and work full time on the nursing staff.

For a few years, Rolland and Crystal date and had sex whenever he returned to Warren. He even had her come to California a few times. She enjoyed being with him.

It finally ended when he, for no apparent reason that she was aware of, stop calling her and did not come to see her when he came to Warren.

It should have started last Friday but she had forgotten; you can almost set your watch by her periods. It may be a day early or late, but mostly every twenty-eight days just like clockwork.

The thought that she may be pregnant sent a surge of sadness through her; she had decided that she did not want a baby until she and Rolland were married.

It was at that moment, she felt a sharp pain in the pit of her stomach. She actually felt like the biggest fool. She asked herself what was the point of putting everything on the line for Rolland? Just to be alone?

The only thing she could do at that moment was cry. Not only did she feel like the worlds biggest fool, but she also felt as though she had been used.

Her mind was so consumed with Rolland, or lack there of. She questioned herself hundreds of times. Where did she go wrong? On her way home from work, she stopped at the drug store and bought a home pregnancy kit.

Upon arriving home, she tested herself. It turned up positive. She was saddened but cautious knowing it was not foolproof. Early the next day she made an appointment for that afternoon with her doctor, Dr. Joseph
