This woman raised me to be who I am today. My grandmother meant the world to me and there is not a day that goes by that I do not think of her. I was right in the middle of spring semester and I thought that I should just quit. I had honestly thought that school was not for me and that I should just find a job and work there for the rest of my life. But then I thought of what would have made her happy which was seeing me happy. After thinking about the reasons why I had wanted to become a teacher, I had remembered why and I knew that I had to try my hardest to keep going. With that being said I would like to think that one of my biggest strengths would have to be determination, dedication and belief. I will never give up on my dream of becoming a teacher. I am fighting hard to find the best ways to finish my degree. I am not giving up on myself because I believe that I can do better and be better than I was six years ago. I believe that my grandmother would want to see me be better than I can ever be and that right there is the best motivation that I could ever think of. I currently work at a daycare and I teach children ages 18 months to 24 months. Working with them is very different from the age that actually want to teach, but working with them has given me so much guidance into a portion of what I would be having to do as a high school teacher. At my current job, I have to make a weekly curriculum for day to day activities. We have parent teacher conferences twice a year and I have to track the children on their developmental milestones. I love working with the kids and I love seeing them get excited to learn new things every day. I believe in myself and I believe that everything that I have overcame will help me to be the best student that I can be at SUNY Empire State
