Unfortunately, I was unable to attend to the first night of class, but the first day for me was quite an experience. I have to confess that I have always suffered from glossophobia. Although it is one of the most common phobias that exist, in my opinion, most people can handle it better than me. For that reason, I was terrified to take this class and to face my fear of public speaking. I am well aware that overcoming this fear is extremely important for me to achieve success in my career field. My major is Business Information System and my dream job is to become an IT Project Manager. The method I have always used is keeping eye contact during a dialogue; I like to look at the person in the eye. I believe it’s a good indicator that you are giving all of your attention, which in my opinion shows respect and makes the conversation flow easier. Written communication is my favorite, and it is one of the most common forms of business communication. I consider this to be a great advantage for me in the future. When thoughts are written, there is time to revise and edit our text to ensure we are transmitting the appropriate message. A good writer gives the impression of a reliable person with great attributes and professionalism and this is what employers are looking for. Considering that in today’s society writing skills are significantly necessary, I believe that working on improving the quality of our writing can be very beneficial for all fields of study. For me, oral communication is one of the most challenging of all since it consists of a two-way interaction that can sometimes lead to disagreements and intense discussions.
