Improved Essays
The short story of Why, honey by Raymond Clevie Carver, Jr written in the form of a letter tells about a mother who acts as the narrator as well as the protagonist and her scoundrel son, who is to blame why the letter exists in the first place. At no stage of the story is the reader certain of whom the letter is intended to and in the end the signature of the mother is missing.
The letter starts immediately with the introduction of the mother and what is to become further on in the letter and why she lives in those circumstances now and how she still lives in fear of his son despite it being already sometime she has last seen him.
The theme of fear and lack of trust is evident throughout the short story.

Raymond Carver’s tragic untimely death reminded me the sad ending of Prince Rogers Nelson and Michael Jackson lives. I Think Ray has said it all in the beginning about the personal opinion of his life. First he suffered as the son of an alcoholic father, an abused family history and later on he again witnessed the same story of failures faced by his children in spite of their own hard work and laborious life which could not provide the family happiness, love and comfort. He was searching for happiness and comforts in life and in the process he lost his beloved and faithful wife Maryann as well. The Video “Why Don’t You Dance” I think is a true replay of his personal experiences.…

Marie Clements’ Burning Vision explores the idea of fear and its power to uphold the normality of grief and its surprising influence to bring together those who feel it. The Widow’s fear of forgetting her husband leads her to a naive young woman in need of guidance, the Radium Painter’s fear of the unknown leads her to romantic love, and the Fat Man’s fear of loneliness grants him an adopted family. In contrast, the Labine Brothers’ fear of competition is never cured. From this, the reader can conclude that the purpose of fear is to unite those under its influence. Therefore, the uniting powers of fear drives the psychological growth of each character, inviting the creation of personal connections and unveiling the idea that the antidote to fear is love.…
