Classmates, friends, Miss Cadiz, ladies and gentlemen, Good morning. Nowadays, we are driven into a technology-based era where in technology has emerged itself towards education and students became more rational individuals. As the world evolves and getting wiser, I believe that home works should be replaced with oral recitations. Home works are sets of tasks given by the teacher to their students to be done during non-school hours. My first point is, home works are pointless. Why? Home works are pointless because not all students but most of the students would just rely on the work of their classmates or the worst case, home works are done in a hurry. In other words, this can lead students into bad behaviors like cheating because students …show more content…
because of some urgent appointments which I really need to attend, or other cases I have some school works or activities like practice, meeting with the group members, and many more. And when I got home or at the dorm, I relaxed myself for a maximum of 30 minutes. Then I am doing my home works the whole night. Many mornings are very hard for me and I think also for you because of the lack of sleep hours we had. The lack of sleep that the students struggle with, makes it hard for almost all the students to concentrate during classes because students are already …show more content…
Oral recitations provide the teachers feedbacks, they can see the extent of the student`s understandings towards on their subject instead of giving assignments to the students. Oral recitation makes students think and wonder why. When the students try to answer or to explain, teachers can see the level of their understanding. The teachers can either correct or clarify what the student was talking about. Also, oral recitations is an effective way in molding the students in the classroom. For example, those students who are sleeping in the class, texting, talking with their seatmates can be called by the professor or the teacher to respond rather than doing home works especially assignments which most of the students would copy and paste what is written on the internet article or other publications, in simple word, plagiarized. First of all, homework causes stress on students. We may as well just spend all day at school if we are having school at home anyways. Students should go to school, work on “school” work, then come home and not do “school” work at home. This would increase the productivity and attitudes of students. I, for one, would be in a much better mood concerning school if I knew that I didn’t have to look forward to coming home to more school work.…

After reading Etta Kralovec and John Buell’s essay, “End Homework Now,” I can say that I’m of two minds about their claim that homework has questionable benefits. On one hand, I agree that homework it isn’t as imperative as some parents believe. On the other hand, I’m not sure if homework is completely unnecessary. I agree that that homework isn’t as vital as it’s thought to be, a point that needs emphasizing since so many people still believe that “If our students don't do lots of homework, their test scores will never be competitive internationally” (Kralovec, Buell).…

Many school teachers claim that without grades there would be no incentive to work. As a student who has been homeschooled her whole life and had never received a grade before collage, I find this thinking completely rubbish. You do your work and do it well because that is what is expected of you. This is what I stood by in my time as a precollege student. However, in a world where kids are taught from a young age not to do anything unless it benefits them, it makes complete since that without grades they would not do the work.…

I tend to not be able to get work done in a school setting as I get easily distracted and irritated by noises. Being able to work at home, I could get work done faster in a setting that I thrived in. In addition, during the school year, we often are given small tasks to keep us busy. Furthermore, I also enjoyed how straightforward the teacher was with us, as it helped stimulate a university setting where the teachers aren’t going to care about why an assignment wasn’t handed in.…
