Why Hockey Is Important To Me

Decent Essays
As you can tell law enforcement isn't my only interest in my life! I also love (DRUMROLL!) Hockey! I had skates on my feet at just age three and soon began playing hockey at age four! I would always love the adrenaline as I zoomed across the ice. About the time when I started playing goalie I instantly wanted to be an NHL goalkeeper. My dad always told me hard work was key and I had to make sacrifices in life. As I got older I debated with myself whether to be an NHL player or a detective. I think I have my decision on what I want to be when I grow up. But, before I tell you comment below what you think I should do. THANK

Do you think you have what it takes to skate on ⅛ inch blade with 5 other guys trying to hit you? It makes the sport more fun to watch. It allows players to take out anger in a better way than hurting them. It can cause brain damage and have injuries more serious down the road. Even though people can get hurt and some people do not like fighting, the NHL should keep fighting because it makes the game more entertaining and hockey players typically do not get hurt from the fighting.…

Fear not your best friend fear Eagerly waiting for the sound of the final bell ending the game, I limped back to the locker room ashamed of failing my teammates once again. With my jersey drooping below my knees, I dreaded every second of ice time starring at a swarming pool of merciless giants. Receiving the puck gave you the opportunity to score, but for me it meant running into a wall. Running into other players sent me flying through the air before gasping for air and landing dazed on the verge of unconsciousness. The condemnation of failing to contribute to my team or participating in the physical aspect of hockey reminded me I was in a dark world of self-loathing because I couldn't accept this fact.…

Although it has become steadily easier, and more about sharpening skills than developing them, in the beginning it was extremely difficult. The progress I have made since when I first began playing is immeasurable. I have come as far as I have in hockey through all the years of support from my father, because he’s always been happy to watch me play competitively.…

I recall the day so clearly, impatiently waiting in the doctor’s office. Nothing was wrong with me; I was supposed to be at the rink for hockey practice or so I thought. Many people say to play sports, and they provide you the usual explanation to join. Keeping you in shape; it will be fun; you will meet new friends, and that it will keep you out of trouble are the general reasons heard for playing a sport. All of those reasons I agree with; however, one reason they never say is, you can learn more than just the rules and technique of the game. Wrestling is the sport that I have participated in and which has become an important element of my life for 11 years now. Even to this day, I still love the intensity and discipline of the sport, and that helps keep my motivation every day.…
