Constantly navigating cultural exchange, I understand student needs and challenges seeking jobs in America (e.g. communication barrier). Such first-hand insight and knowledge of student development are at the center of program development. For example, at Texas A&M University, I led International Student Workshops and increased student participation by 75%. These workshops aim to improve international student’s communication skills, but have been struggling with low student retention rate. I designed and conducted an online survey to identify student needs, and then I updated the curriculum to align with program goals and learning outcomes. With assessment tools, I was able to monitor program effectiveness and student learning.
