The size of a place sometimes does not define how good it is; however, the people that labor and the content in that place determine its goodness. Even though Walmart is one the biggest retailer all over the United States and globally, it does not offer at all what customers need in Texas. A costumer wants to grocery in a place where he or she is welcome and feel like home; therefore, a retailer should offer customers what they need. As a matter of fact, HEB is one of the best retailers that bring me that welcoming feeling as I walk in their stores. Even though HEB is a small retailer around United States, they make sure all their customers can get easily to their different locations. As a student and without a car, I can still get to the closest store by riding the bus. For example, even though I live in the third ward area, I can still get to the Old Spanish Trail or Buffalo Speed HEB just as the person that own a car. Nonetheless, Walmart is a store that is convenient only for whoever own a car because of their location setting. For instant, the only closest Walmart near me is the one on Telephone Rd. In the one hand, HEB cares for Texans because it provides many opportunities to their employees. If you work at HEB, you are more likely to get your wage raised than someone who work at Walmart. In fact, no one says, I can not wait to work at Walmart. In the other hand, HEB has scholarship programs for many of their employees who are students. For example, Laura one of my roommate’s sister got a scholarship from HEB for her continuing education at the Texas Woman University. The good treatment of the employees at HEB toward their customers tells a lot about their wages. The wage of an employee sometime can impact the way she or he treats customers. Nonetheless, Walmart does not keep many of their employees because part of their business is not to improve the living situation of Texans. In fact, they care more about making tons of dollars.
