Costs can be an issue, weapons do not have to be brand new [must be serviceable] and they don’t have to the latest “fad” weapons. Don’t let some sales “expert” at the local gun store talk you into a weapon that you may not need. Remember that the only gun you will ever really need is the one you have with you when everything goes south.

Perception is a critical idea for many works including, “How to Be Stupid: The Teachings of Channel One” by Mark Crispin Miller and “Into the Wild” by Jon Krakauer. Both works idealize either a product or an experience that outsiders are captivated by. In Miller’s “How to Be Stupid,” he exposes Channel One for all the manipulative tactics used to sell a product to its viewers. While Krakauer’s “Into the Wild” is a retelling of the story of a man named Chris McCandless that goes on a voyage to existentially discover himself and his meaning for living. McCandless had a difficult childhood, and had an outlook on life that many would not even fathom.…

In the realm of the political spectrum, there are certain issues which hold more weight than others. For instance, the issue of individual responsibility. I believe that each person can decide his or her own fate, and that their circumstances do not define them. Furthermore, just because you are from a poor home with unsatisfactory conditions does not mean that you immediately have no opportunity to become something that your parents never were, as it is up to the individual to decide their own fate. They can choose to let it bring them down, or they can rise above the expectations.…

Gun Control laws are bad news. Gun control is a big topic in modern society because more homicides are happening week by week and it is extremely sad and people feel the need to get out there and help their community. Gun laws will not at all stop gun violence because the bad guys will always find a way to get them and the gun laws will only be followed by law abiding citizen. There are three reasons that prove my claim. First is that gun laws do not lower crime rates whatsoever.…

There are many significant issues in American politics today but none is more important to me than the debates regarding gun control. There is intense discussions from both those in favor of gun control and those opposed to it. I, admittedly, find myself sometimes sympathizing with those on both sides of the debate. Regardless which side you find yourself on there is no question that guns are extremely powerful and dangerous things which demand our attention and respect. Although I do not currently own a gun I am sure there will come a day in which I will want or need to.…

Something that sets America apart from other nations but with recent deadly shootings it may be more of a curse than a flag of freedom. In the United States in more recent years there has been a lot of debate on gun control due to events like the most recent school shooting. Both sides, Democratic and Republican, have argued for and against two very radical solutions: increasing gun control to the point of taking away guns from everyone that is not military or police, and arming teachers across the country. While both of these solutions have their benefits and flaws, one very important aspect of the active shooter epidemic seems to be overlooked, and that is the mental state of these people that will eventually turn into active shooters. When looking at the mentality of these people, there are two parts of the issue that are rarely addressed when trying to find a solution,…

In America, there is a growing perception that guns are: they are harmful, they kill, and they commit crimes, and so most guns should be banned. But, how can a gun kill or commit crimes; it is not a living thing, it is a tool. With the use of guns, America has grown to be a strong and independent country throughout history. The push to ban guns will only keep guns away from law abiding citizens since criminals, by nature, do not follow laws and respect the gun free zones. The banning of guns in America should end.…
