A heavily armed man and woman in San Bernardino terrorize the city , killing at least 14 people and wounding at least 17 at a social services center before leading the police on in a chase that lead to a shootout that left the two more dead. The Second Amendment to the Constitution, which concerns the right to bear arms. Twice in the past two years the gun issue has reached the nation’s highest court. “In the 2008 Supreme Court case District of Columbia v. Heller the court ruled that the Constitution protects an individual’s right to own a gun for personal use.”(Gun). The issue we will be addressing is why gun control should be lessened. The law of gun control should not be changed based on 2nd amendment, fewer mass shootings, and the possibility of it not working.

The 2nd amendment was added to the constitution in 1791, this amendment allows us the right to bear arms. The 2nd Amendment was ratified on December 17, 1791 along with the other nine amendments that make up the Bill of Rights. It is our right to have a firearm, why would you want the government take away any of your rights. We fight for these rights, the government should not be able to take them as they wish. Prompted by complaints that the federal government has been abusing its power to enforce gun laws, Congress passes the Firearm Owners Protection Act of 1986.
