People usually say, they own a gun because they want to protect themselves from dangerous situations. And that is the most common, and the main purpose that most people know. However the following article describes that guns are rarely used in self defense. In 2007-11, less than 1% of victims used a firearm to defend themselves during the incident (Planty and Truman 1). To add more, U.S. ranked 28th place with 9,146 homicides and 60% of firearm homicides from the total number of homicides (Rogers 2). These records show the real purpose of the gun that was covered by the unrighteous but legal law. We have to be aware that those excuses are taking away many lives and causing sacrifices. Also, we have to be aware that not having a gun control will create bad influences. The opponents,who deny on my opinion said that, “The second amendment - right to bear arms, protects an individual’s right to own gun”(procon.org 1). Adam Winkler proposed that there are needs to structure a new law because we are living in a different time period and our background dynamically changed over about 300 years (3). We know that the total number of gun will increase more if the government don’t suggest the solution. Mark Follman advocated having a gun control by saying that there were minimum 126 mass shootings during 14 years and prophesy that there are lots of possibilities that the number of shooting incidents can increase (6). These things are not just the things that are going to happen in the future, but it is happening at the moment near around us. Although we do not have enough time because bad influences are proceeding quickly, the 52% of Americans believe the right to own guns should be protected (Pew research center 6). A part of their opinion is that, “The most people who are killed by a gun use one to kill themselves, and many of the remaining deaths come in the form of routine interpersonal violence”(Younge 2). Also, they believe that having a gun control is a vain attempt which will not going to make a big difference because there are many other tools that can be used to kill people (Younge 2). However, their idea is not as valid because the suicide could have been the issue because guns are very easily get purchased. Through these evidence I was able to think about their sides of opinions and concerns which were mostly about the risks that the United States might have to take. Nevertheless, their concern comes from the lack of faith. No one can guarantee the results. Having a gun control would have to take some risks but it’s worth it. We will be able to save at least one person’s life by having a gun control. And not just the person we saved, we practically saved his of her family and friends. Instead of
