Why Gun Control Is Important

What do you think is the most notorious crime in American history? I think the most notorious crime is a felonious homicide. The gun shooting is definitely more common but threatening among the acts of murder. I believe that the United States needs to strengthen a gun control because it is a key to reduce the death rates. There might not be much things that we can do about it, in such as a country where the parents murder their children and the children murder their parents that is currently happening in these days. However, that we need to make our best decisions and efforts to save a person’s life. Therefore, we need a stronger gun control. In order to make our best decisions, at least we have to know the purposes of using guns, how many people are losing lives because of guns, and how dangerous it is to not have a gun control. Almost everybody can own a gun very easily, if you don’t have a bad record under your personal information. “ The United States has 88.8 guns per 100 people, or about 270,000,000 guns, which is the highest total and per capita number in the world”(procon.org 1). People usually say, they own a gun because they want to protect themselves from dangerous situations. And that is the most common, and the main purpose that most people know. However the following article describes that guns are rarely used in self defense. In 2007-11, less than 1% of victims used a firearm to defend themselves during the incident (Planty and Truman 1). To add more, U.S. ranked 28th place with 9,146 homicides and 60% of firearm homicides from the total number of homicides (Rogers 2).
