In an effort to have a more credible argument against gun control, Officer Luke Arbizo was interviewed as a primary source of information. Arbizo is currently serving in the Thatcher, Arizona Police Force, and he has a bachelor’s degree in criminal justice. He has served as a police officer for twenty five years, and is currently on his twenty sixth. During the interview about gun legislation, Arbizo stated, “They are trying to make stricter gun laws, but who is that really affecting? It’s not affecting the bad guys, because they’re always gonna have them. So they are just affecting the common citizen that obeys the law, making it so that common citizens can’t protect themselves.” What Arbizo is stating is that strict gun control laws do not affect the people that commit violent acts using weapons, but instead they affect the law-abiding citizens negatively. Citizens have a right to self-defense, as well as a right to bear arms; however, strict gun legislation infringes on those very rights.
