Three Essential Keys To Long-life Happiness “Happiness cannot be traveled to, owned, earned, worn or consumed. Happiness is the spiritual experience of living every minute with love, grace and gratitude” (Waitely). There are many actions a person can perform to achieve happiness. Human happiness can be an abstract state of mind that anyone can earn. A happy person is most likely to experience gratitude, acceptance and good health.
Gratitude is a cause of human happiness. First, studies on gratitude have shown that people who practice being grateful are happier. For example “First is to keep a gratitude journal. This can mean listing five things for which you are grateful for every week this practice works, because it consciously, intentionally focuses our attention on developing more grateful thinking on eliminating ungrateful thoughts” (Emmons). In addition, a person who practices writing down five things they are grateful for will gain gratitude. Furthermore, gratitude blocks out our negative emotions. To start with, you can lose everything in life and still manage to find happiness again. However, in the movie Happy, Melissa Moody had experienced a tragic car accident that resulted in several surgeries, no job and her husband divorcing her.
