Why Grades To Fail In High School

Improved Essays
In school my grades started to decrease from having all A’s and one B to most A’s dropping to B’s and the one b dropping to a C. I ended up having to talk to the councilor about my grades dropping and if anything, happening at home. I told him about how my dad was gone because of his work and that I was missing him. My counselor would then help me after school with anything that I need help with. I also ended up playing on a rec basketball team with a bunch of my friends and one of my friend’s dad as the coach. Being on that team helped me get out of the house on weekends.

All through middle school and up to current time, I was ignored and my family didn’t care when I showed them that I got a good grade on a test or that I was participating in some type of school event and I wanted them to come.…

Drexel is concern about student’s grade point averages. Students who receive a C- or below can retake the class for higher GPA. Students can retake classes at four separate occurrences. Even though the school said the population affected are all students which all of us may petition for GPA adjustment; it will not benefit all students. As any student knows, grades are reflective of their accomplishments in a given class. However, grades mean much more to students than whether they know the material or not. Grades mean whether or not someone will get into their college of choice, whether or not they have to retake that class they had failed as a result of an emotional semester, whether or not they are hired for a position against someone who graduated with a higher grade-point average (GPA). Students are under more duress than ever to be academically excellent because of the mounting pressure in the American education system.
