Why Good People Do Bad Things Research

Why do people always ask the question, why do good people do bad things? I like to think it’s because they wonder how these good people do such terrible things. I feel that maybe the reason they do bad things is because they want to look cool and fit in. Another reason is that they become friends with the wrong crowd. My final example in my opinion, is that they are trying to get their parents attention. Many young adolecentes try to get in trouble because then their parents will finally notice them which is the attention they are looking for.
My first reason why I think good people do bad things is that these people see other people doing bad things and think it’s cool. This leads them into wanting to fit in with a particular crowd. Unfortunately, once some of those good people start doing bad things they want to go back to old habits. However, by then they are already labeled as a bad person. For example, one of my parents very good friend used to be a drug addict. In return she has been clean for 19 months. However, people today as a society sees her and profiles her as a known addict. Good people feel in order to stay in the group of friends they have to do bad things. Also “when people are in a group, they feel more anonymous, and less likely to be caught doing something wrong.” (Trafton 3). This relates to my own personal experience. My inner circle of friends are in a group that talks about people behind their backs. I didn’t want to look like an outsider, so, I just went along with it even though I knew it was wrong.
