There are many reasons why fossils are considered essential for the study of biological evolution. One reason is that fossils are the remains of an organism that was once living at one point or another. Fossils provide exact evidence of animals that are extinct and are able to trace them to the evolution of living organisms. Fossils are essential for evolution because they show how species evolved from a "simple" type of species to a more "complex" species. They are essential for the study of biological evolution because now scientists are able to record what they discover about these fossils. If there are a significant amount of fossils found, scientists are able to use them to test hypotheses on evolution.
