Why Football Is Important To Me

I was always fascinated with sports from a young age, I loved sitting in the living room every Sunday watching football with my dad. I had always wanted to be in the little league for football, but my mom thought it was too dangerous for me, so I stuck with basketball throughout elementary school. Once I entered middle school I found it to be the perfect time for me to finally play football. I often found myself captivated by the stories my dad would tell me from when he used to play football while he was in middle and high school, those stories made me want to work just as hard as he did. Starting off was not easy, I found the practices to be rigorous at the time, no matter how hard I tried, I always seemed to come up short. My sophomore year came around, and all I wanted to do was make the varsity team, unfortunately, I was put on the junior varsity team, which was not bad at the time, I kept my starting spot which made it fun throughout the season. Offseason came around and the head coach kept me after a workout to tell me I was a projected starter for the varsity team the upcoming season, this fueled me to work harder. Unfortunately, I ended up tearing my ACL during one of the practices, I knew I was not going to have a chance to play anymore, I was sent to the doctors and the only alternative was to operate, my family chose not to. My only option then was to either quit or rehab and hope for the best, I began my rehab the remaining months of my sophomore year and throughout the summer leading up to my junior year. I chose not to quit and continue playing, knowing the consequences. It was hard not being able to play as much as I used to, I finished my junior season without injuring anything else besides my knee. Senior year was my only year in which I could have played varsity, I took the risk once again and
