Someone once said, “There are those who make things happen, those who watch things happen, and those who wonder what happened.” I am one of those people who knows how to make things happen. I went from sitting on the bench wishing I was making plays to being a starting quarterback having people wishing they were me. Sports management will benefit me now and later in life while I am progressing as a football player learning different techniques, and skills that will prepare me to be a great football coach. I started playing football when I was 3 years old. Once I turned 8 something hit me, I knew I loved the game of football and I wanted to play forever. Being a quarterback is not all fun and games, it comes with a lot of responsibility.

Should we really take America’s favorite sport away from children before high school? Nowadays, football is really safe. We have re-invented the football helmets many times. Also, as middle schoolers are going into high school football, they are going to get hit harder and with more impact, so they should train now. Children should be allowed to play tackle football before high school because as kids get older, they hit harder, tackle football allows kids to behave and have fun, and tackle football is safer than it has ever been.…

The moment you decide that you want to play the game of football, your life changes forever. At least mine did from the first time I strapped on my pads. I think Vince Lombardi reflected the essence of football in a small collection of words, “people who work together will win, whether it be against complex football defenses, or the problems of modern society.” The biggest part of the game is teamwork, a concept that I was introduced to early on, but we’ll get to that later. The first time I strapped on pads was in the hot August sun at 12 years old.…

Basketball is one of my favorite things. I love playing and watching it because of how exiting it can be. No matter the season you can always play because it is indoor and outdoor. You don't have to get a certain number of people to play it like baseball or kickball or anything like that, even with an odd number you can make it work with one person being on offense all if the time or defense. Scoring isn't that hard, and neither is defense, so if you don't play a whole lot and you're not that good than you just don't shoot three pointers or deep two pointers.…

It was a brisk fall evening with the sun just about to set behind a hill. I was 10 years old, playing in my third season of football, and my first ever game under the bright lights surrounding the high school stadium. The time had finally come, the lights had been on and warming up for several minutes, I was going to play a game under the lights on the high school field.
