Why Everyone Should Be Able To Vote

Decent Essays
Electronic voting machines would help more people than it would hurt. Voting is an important thing to lots of people. Who they elect matters to them. They don't want to put in a vote for one person just for it to be tampered with or dismissed. EVMs are easier, faster, and more reliable than paper ballots.

Electronic voting machines draw in a lot more votes because of the simple fact that it's easier. People who have disabilities with hearing, vision, or even standing can vote with ease. The passage, "Everyone Should Be Able to Vote" states, "The United States has 33.7 million people of voting age with disabilities. They are 20% less likely to vote, largely due to accessibility issues." People have jobs to get to and kids to take care

Voting is important to a democracy because it allows people to decide who will lead the country and what the country will do. To increase participation in voting, the government should make it more convenient for voters. The lack of voters who vote make the legitimacy of the government questionable. Not many people vote because it is not convenient for them. It is possible to conclude that voting isn’t easy for citizens because of the low percentage of citizens who vote.…

Also with swiping our cards they would know where we were voting at. Also they could incorporate ways of only being able to vote for so many issues. If they gave us a limit people would choose wisely on what to use their vote for. There should not be voting regions where we can only go vote. Just because we don’t live in a certain region should not stop us from being able to vote on what 's going on if it would pertain to us in some way.…

Making people vote is ruining our already weak name of the "Land of the Free". We have many laws, regulations, and rules, the last thing we need is for our people to lose even more of their freedom. We have our right to vote, and it is our choice, as soon as it becomes an obligation it is no longer a right, and restrains us. Not only do we lose our rights, we lose our time. Compulsory voting would make many people have to make their already busy schedules even busier.…

First, the Electoral College system doesn’t give American’s a “true voice” in voting. Oh sure they show the popular vote on the news after the votes are counted, but it wouldn’t matter unless they show it uses the population’s opinion for the majority of who we want to vote as the President. Secondly, it would be easier than the Electoral College system since it can tie countless times, but since the population grows and decreases every day of eligible voters, it would be harder to get a tie. My final argument is that it is harder for third party representatives, such as the Green party and the Libertarians, wouldn’t get a fair chance since most government officials are either Republicans or…

I think eletronic voting machines should be used because its easier to arrange with all the voters in the united states . and everyone uses eletronics now because paper form voting isn't in style nomore its way more funer and simple than to keep writing down a name , and then sending it off when you could simply click one button and it send your vote off right away. Using the eletronic machines may help with different things like people who speaks different languages, the machine have different choices of languages to choose from , and it can also help disable voters like the ones who can't write or can't spell .the machine may have headphone access where they can hear the different names to vote for and they just click it so nobody knows who their voting for .…

The weakness of our voting System I have never convinced of the saying, “every vote counts,” when our founding fathers created this democracy they were distrustful of the masses. They designed the system to make sure citizens never had too much power, because if they did they would make mistakes. They set up the Electoral College so “wrong” votes could be corrected. Therefore, I believe that voting is not an effective form of political participation, because the voting system is flawed. I believe each vote doesn’t count as much as it should because of the Electoral College.…

Introduction I voted for the first time in 2014, only a month after I had turned 18. I felt proud to be participating in our democracy and to be fulfilling my individual responsibility as a member of this country. However, I believe I only did so because I did not struggle with the hurdles that many others in Kansas face. The reason I am writing to you today is to address the impact these hurdles have on voter turnout and to propose a solution to this problem. As the Kansas Secretary of State, you are tasked with deciding the requirements that citizens must meet in order to vote in these elections.…

It would also increase the number of random votes and spoiled ballots. Voters who vote against their free will may check off a candidate at random, particularly the top candidate on the ballot. This law will not make the voters want to vote, but it would decrease the voter's interest in voting. Some may argue that for a generation our nation has experienced a decrease in voter turnout, but new studies have proved them wrong. These studies show that voter turnout has remained steady for the past three decades.…

Should American Citizens be required to vote Throughout the years, many citizens have fought for the right to vote. Citizens of other countries view the United States as being lucky just to have the opportunity to help choose the person who will be in charge of our country or to help decide how our constitution will be amended. American citizens should be able to vote for many reasons, first being U.S. citizens are the voice of America and are our future leaders and drive the political process. The second reason mandatory voting should be require is because it can get American citizens involved in the government, and lastly mandatory voting will sustain a democratic government. I believe that American Citizens should be able to vote for many reasons, one of the reasons that American citizens should be required to vote is the simple fact that American citizens are the voice of America and without our voices this country would have no one to represent us as a whole; the American Citizens represent the American population.…

There are many pros and cons to using EVM's, as opposed to paper ballots. They may work well for people with disabilities as stated which gives them the opportunity to vote without worrying about their physical state, but if you don't know about computers these machines may become complicated for many. Most states that have used the EVM's have reverted back to paper ballots because of the cost to keep them up and running well, restoring hardware and software. Also the making sure these EVM's are difficult for hakers to get into. So instead the many states that have replaced them are sure that the paper ballots are safe and…
