Euthanasia, the act or practice of killing or permitting the death of hopelessly sick or injured individuals (as persons or domestic animals) in a relatively painless way for reasons of mercy(Miriam-Webster). Euthanasia has been an international debate for years. Many people resent this topic because of religious factors as well as moral obligations. Others are for the idea of euthanasia because of terminal illness, the reduction of suffering and simply it’s an individual liberties. Euthanasia is common with animals such as dogs and cats it is often refereed to as getting “put down”. The main reason being their state of health. This is a lethal injection killing an animal keeping them from future pain and agony from a fatal accident or disease. Seven states in the U.S have made Physician Assisted Suicide legal those are California, Montana, Colorado, Vermont, oregon, Washington and also DC. Although it is legal in these seven states you still have requirements to partake in. Those include two verbal request to the physician each 15 days apart and one written request to make it official as well as 18 being the minimum age to have the procedure done. A study was done in Canada in 2007 where they interviewed 380 patients and they each agreed the PAS should be legalized. For them the reasoning exceeded pain and extended to feeling that of a burden to their families and especially their pocket books.
