21st Century Skills Article Analysis

Since the beginning of time we as a species have been working towards educating ourselves in the best and most effective ways possible. If you look at nature and how things survive on our planet you will see that the only way of survival is through some form of education. There are very few species on Earth that don’t use education to teach their offspring how to survive. An example of this is how mammals teach their young how to gather food, get shelter, and other basic survival qualities. With this in mind we can see the importance of education in connection to survival. The first article that will be reviewed is titled, “The ABC’s of 21st Century Skills”, written by Sharon Brusic and Korbin Shearer. This article talks about the history of 21st Century Skills as well as explaining exactly what they are to the reader. The second article used for this project is entitled, “Teaching STEM: 21st Century Skills”, this article was written by Virginia Jones and deals with possible implementation strategies for 21st Century Skills as well as their benefits. The final article that was reviewed for this particular paper is titled, “Preparing Students for Life and Work”, this article was written by Margaret Hilton and focuses on the demand for these skills in our current lives while also focusing on the problems facing this movement. All three of these articles do a good job at explaining exactly what 21st century skills are as well as talking about how they should be and are being implemented in our current education system; however they all have their weaknesses which will be pointed out throughout the
