Why Dogs Should Be Allowed To Work

Should we be allowed to bring our dogs to work? This seems like a bizzare question to me. On the one hand people think that encouraging such action would improve the work environment and raise company morale. However, on the other hand, and the side I personally agree with, there are people who believe that the dogs would be a destraction, and even a hazzard to fellow coworkers, and would be better left at home. Let's start with the first side listed. I understand the urge to love on your animals, and spread that love around. I love animals, and petting dogs or playing with them is a lot of fun, and very satisfying. I also know that some dogs are amazingly trained, and do not spend all hours of the day barking. Working while you're giddy is great, and having dogs around to put you in that mood could raise productivity. BUT, (man I've been holding that one in) there are too many risks involved, and I think it's unfair to our superiors who have to pay for any loss of productivity. …show more content…
First of all, although it does raise morale for many, it puts others in danger, such as people with allergies or anxieties. There are other ways to raise morale. Secondly, it is a serious destraction for many. I'm a construction worker, so I'm outside a lot. when people bring there dogs to work, they're usually friendly, and I find myself wanting to pet them or play with them whenever they're near. And that keeps me from doing my job, which isn't making my boss money, and therefore not making me money. And lastly, dogs take quite a bit of care and supervision. They don't tend to like enclosed spaces for long periods of time, such as offices or cubicles.And, depending on where your desk is located, you may have to take a twenty minute break just to take your dog to the bathroom, and the younger they are the worse they
