In Act II, Macbeth refers to time the most often. During this act, Macbeth’s use of time mostly has to do with how he would like to hide from time. This likely due to the fact that he has just killed Duncan and so no he’s stuck: he can’t die or else he’ll face the afterlife, but he can’t live since he is so afraid of life. Other characters treat time as if it has been ruined. Their perspective on time is that it is in the realm of God and therefore they view time as a whole in a positive light, however, since they are watching coming to a halt, they are mourning time and talking about the past when time was moving along, almost reminiscing about both the pleasant and unpleasant times.
