When Macbeth was a knight and Thane of Glamis, he appeared to be content with his life. When he received his prophecy from the witches, he did not completely believe them until he received the title, Thane of Cawdor from King Duncan. Macbeth knew he was becoming close to being crowned king of Scotland and the temptation was too intense for him to wait. Even after he killed Duncan and became King, he was still not content and greed overcame him. He transformed from a noble knight to a tyrannous leader willing to kill anyone who stood in his way. The power of greed imposed onto Macbeth blinded his thoughts and made him forget his past and all morals. His greed to stay king blinded him to the point that the death of his wife did not even phase him. Upon hearing the horrendous news, he said, "She should have died hereafter"
