Adieu.” In the first line of the quote Iago is speaking “Thou art… make money” I believe in this line Iago is saying to Roderigo that Iago is able to be trusted and at the same Iago is telling Roderigo to go and get money. In the next line Iago says to Roderigo “I have told thee … hate the Moor.” In this line , Iago is saying he has told Roderigo before and he will continue to tell Roderigo time and time again that he hates the Moor. In the next part of Iago’s small monologue he says “My cause is hearted, thine hath no less reason.” When Iago says this in reference to his hatred along with the hatred that Roderigo has for the the Moor meaning Othello, I believe Iago means that no matter what he is devoted and will not let anything get in the way of him hating Othello. Furthermore, Iago saying this I believe he means that as much as Othello is hated by Iago, Roderigo is equally devoted to his cause of hating Othello. Iago wants Roderigo to join in on his plan to seek revenge on Othello. Othello is led to believe that Desdemona throughout the play has been having an extramarital affair, and has been unfaithful to him. Othello believes these allegations because of the false appearances and allegations that the other characters have put on to him. Othello soon then puts a symbol on the handkerchief that he gives Desdemona. He in his mind sees the handkerchief as Desdemona, her faith and her chastity. He then believes since Desdemona has misplaced the handkerchief that she is unfaithful.
