Why Does Atticus Show Courage In To Kill A Mockingbird

There are 3 different courages that appears many times in “To Kill a Mockingbird” Book. First, Atticus defend Tom from regardless of the Transporation, Next, Boo Radley shows courage by protecting the kids at the end, The last one is that Jem and Scout didn’t want their father to be in the Jury court alone. These are the courage that appears in the story.
First, Atticus has the courage to defend Tom Robinson from the Ewell’s family and from the people in Maycomb. “If you have been on the jury like you Jem, Tom would be a free man” (page 295). It means that if Jem was part of the jury with Tom, Tom would be a free from Maycomb. Mostly, Atticus trusted Tom for what he said at the courtroom because he was saying the truth what he said about Mayella Ewell. “Tom felt sorry for her, she seemed to try more in the rest of them” (page 264). It shows that Tom was speaking truth when he wasn’t the person who abused Mayella. Another example is that Atticus also found out that Bob Ewell is lying when he said Tom punched Mayella on the face. “You use your left hand when you’re writing” (page 238). Boo save Jem’s life when Bob Ewell tried to kill Jem. “Scout led Boo to pat Jem and held her hands and told her he wants to go home” (page 372). This shows Boo didn’t want Scout to know that he killed Bob. Another Example is that Boo did not just killed Bob he was also trying to protect Jem and Scout during the night. “Mr. Ewell fell on his knife and died” (page 370). This shows that Atticus thinks it was Jem who killed Mr. Ewell but it wasn’t him. Another example is that Jem just want to go home safely with his sister. “All Jem wanted to do was to get him and his sister safely home” (page 369). This also shows the courage of Jem just wanted to protect his sister and himself and go back home. These was all on how the courage works by protecting someone that is in
