Eat or be eaten. Are you a sheep or are you a wolf? We will be number one. We have to be dogs on the field. Let’s get it guys! My first day of practice at Lane College was not good at all, but I will not stop till I’m at the top. I plan on working hard to get to the next level. First, I’m going to dominate every opponent I’m up against. Then, I plan on getting drafted to the National Football League. Finally, I will make my mark on the NFL. I will be great! Jackson, Tennessee is a small city full of athletes, but with hard work and dedication any athlete can make it out of their home city no matter where it is. My “grind” did not start in the NFL or in college; it started as a teen. I was born July 11, 1984, in New Orleans, Louisiana. As a kid the streets were not so friendly to me as a kid. I went through many obstacles to get to where I wanted to be. My mom kept me out of trouble and she motivated me to be better than great. To stay out of mischief she persuaded me to start playing sports. In high school I participated in track and field and basketball. I turned out to be pretty good. Other sports at the school wanted me to show my full potential as an athlete. My junior year at Abramson High School I began playing football. Being a tri-athlete did not affect my grades. Although I was said to be the star …show more content…
Cameras were flashing like lightning bolts, fans screamed and cheered to the top of their lungs, and coaches were more serious than ever. We started off slow in the game, but we pumped each other up throughout the game. It was time for kickoff return soon, and I was hungry to show the world that I have worked and that it has paid off. The ball left the tee like a airplane falling from the sky at a high speed. I caught the ball ten yards deep in the in-zone. At that moment I knew I had to get a good on the field. I ran as fast I could and no defender caught me. I return the kickoff for a 108-yard

Last semester was definitely the hardest for me. I have two challenging research papers toward the end of the semester. I find it hard because I did not know what to write about and which assignments I should start on first. I manage to overcome this challenge by narrowing the topics and start on the paper that was closest to deadline. My stress level was at 10 because I skip meals and stayed up all night long to finish my papers.…

As a college student, I have will experience many new experiences that I have never encountered before in my life. From the day we first set foot into college, we being our transition from adolescence to adults. College requires students to become more independent and responsible in our decisions and actions. Each student is responsible for their own education and no longer have their parents to rely on and hold their hand. There are good writers and there are good writers who work hard to become better. Mrs. Fiske, my English teacher junior and senior year of high school always told me that I was one of the best writers in my class but I could always be better. Spelling has always been one of my strong suits and I always get bothered when people can’t spell simple words. I’m pretty good at writing essays but I do not enjoy writing them at all.…

I completed my ten-hour class observation at the private school Georgia Military Prep. The Georgia Military Prep School is located on Georgia Military College’s main campus in Milledgeville. At GMC prep I observed Ms. Jennifer Spencer's advanced eighth grade math class. Ms. Spencer has a decidedly pleasant air about her, a quick smile, and a brisk step that belies her ‘let us get the job done’ type attitude. On my first day observing her class, I soon gathered that Ms. Spencer always has a goal in mind when she sets foot in the classroom.…

I was not surprised—I knew the basic principles of exercise—but my knowledge had not prevented me from feeling like I was barely improving during those practices. The season finally began that fall, and I was disappointed to hear that I had not been chosen as a starter for the team. All hope was not lost, however, because the coach told the backup players that if we improved, we could be made starters. The season went on and I kept improving and finally, we made it to the state championships. After substituting in the end of the semi-finals, my coach pulled me aside and told me that I would be starting as middle linebacker for the final championship game.…

Since I was in elementary school, I have always loved watching NFL games with my dad. I was never built to play the game, but I loved to learn about it. That never stopped me from enjoying America’s Game. I spent my childhood watching my hometown team, the Kansas City Chiefs. I could talk on the same level while I was in the 6th grade as people who have been watching the team for 20+ years.…

Semester of Learning Experiences People most always say, “ Learn from you mistakes and achievements.” I would definitely conclude that is exactly what I’ve done this first semester of college. There are many times that I wanted to simply curl into a ball because of all the newness and unfamiliarity. At times I found myself doing just that, but realizing that I needed to toughen up burst from my comfort zone. I can say sleeping through your classes never the best choice, not going just because you find it too easy, missing a class just to write a paper for another class, and differentiating between minimal and highly important status of choices.…

The truth is, there’s more than just kicking the ball. It takes time, to get to where I have gotten. I’ve endured pain, hard work, and I have even overcome obstacles to get where I am today. Once I’ve achieved one goal there will always be a goal up ahead waiting for me to conquer. Along the way, I have run into people who have told me that I should just give up because I don’t have a chance at playing college football.…
