In the article "Do You Really Think You Are a Good Writer?" the writer Amadeo Constanzo mentions, motivates, and inspires how really important students should work hard to improve their writing skills in remedial class whether they think they are good writers or not. Student should use their time as best as they can while they are in a remedial class to practice and improve their writing skills instead of being negative thinking it's not their level and not working hard. I strongly agree with the writer. Student are supposed to learn and improve themselves while they are in college. A remedial class might be not everyone level, but there is nothing to lose if you take an advantage improving your writing. I'm personally in both English, and

The writing expected from college courses is one that most are unfamiliar with. Although students learn basic English skills throughout grade school and up to high school, most of the advanced steps are forgotten by the time the student is to enter college. Paired with this, are the nontraditional students, who haven’t studied advanced academic language for long periods of time. Professors are expecting students of all kinds of study to have a high academic vocabulary and high writing skill. Often times a gap in remedial writing courses within the first semester or so.…

Writing has always been one of the most difficult skills that I have been learning through my college career, but it has also been the most important skill because unlike other skills writing affects my works across all courses or subjects. Writing has also helped me to get in to UMD, receive scholarships, and be accepted in research programs. Therefore, all the effort that I have made to improve my writing skill is worth it. From experience, writing is not like other skills that one can learn overnight, for me, writing skill is very slow progress and requires a lot of writing and reading; this is what I got from this class. In this class, my writing has advanced because I am reading more, practicing more, and writing more.…

There are good writers and there are good writers who work hard to become better. Mrs. Fiske, my English teacher junior and senior year of high school always told me that I was one of the best writers in my class but I could always be better. Spelling has always been one of my strong suits and I always get bothered when people can’t spell simple words. I’m pretty good at writing essays but I do not enjoy writing them at all.…

Even now, as a college student, I do not find it to be enjoyable if I am inclined to write as a requirement for a class. Many times, I find the process of drafting 5 paragraphs with 3 body paragraphs compressed between an Intro and Conclusion to be tedious and burdensome, but over time I have learned to appreciate this process. Although slaving away to move my fingers across my keyboard to type several drafts takes time, it is helpful in the end to develop a well written paper. In the past, I would settle for an average of a C on all my essays because my writing style was plain and it lacked a sophisticated tone. This was due to my use of simple sentences and awkward word choices throughout my essays.…

As a writer I am very organized, not only in the structure of my writing, but in the content as well. Writing is extremely important in my academic life, it improves how I am able to express myself in writing, not only in this english class but in a business and economic class too. In some cases, high school writing is a lot easier than college writing. Some may say that college writing is easier, but others my feel that in college the professors tend to assume or consider that every college student can write an essay. In many cases some people have not been in high school or may not have gone to college right away. To me, writing has always been busy work and something that teachers only used to create grades. My writing experience in high school was very limited to one category in: practice AP essays. The writing I did in class was always preparing for AP exams and was very fact based. Most essays, such as history, were only used to show that I knew the material and weren’t graded on how good the writing was. I didn’t feel like I had any freedom to stray away from the format that the AP graders expected because I didn’t want that to affect my score.…
