Discrimination can be seen through many different aspects wage discrimination between a man and a women is a highly controversial subject that needs to be discussed. I am for women getting equal pay as men because women can have the same qualifications if not better than their male counterparts and are still underpaid in most workplace settings. Through the years women have been underpaid by their male counterparts in society. Women should get equal pay as men because women may be just as qualified or overqualified as them in the workplace society. What wage discrimination is, how it affects women today needs to be stopped and start on ways to improvise and possibly eliminate the situation.

“Many people may say that women are more likely to major in "soft sciences," such as psychology and sociology and even fields such as "Women's Studies," men tend toward the hard sciences; in fact, the disparity is great enough that statists have proposed applying Title IX dictates to the STEM fields (science, technology, engineering, and math) to artificially equalize the sex ratio in them” (Selwyn.)Just because women may have to leave work because of children or other reasons does not mean they are less qualified or can perform the task at hand more efficiently. Women deserve to have equal pay as men because women may be just as qualified and may be better than the male and still get paid less. Most people say that women do not hold as long tenures as men but that does not mean a women can not be well qualified to do the same task as a male in a timely manner. Women have been underestimated by society and get the short end of the stick when it comes to salaries and the struggling to keep up with the male. The pay gap is the largest among women who are in high executive positions. Studies show that "More than 15 percent of women CEOs lead financial services companies, where performance has been pummeled, hurting pay packages, compared to 12 percent of male CEOs. Still, they say, the distribution was not different enough to have a significant or consistent effect" (McGregor.) Just because women get a higher base salary than men does not mean that female executives get paid more it just means that when start off with a higher salary just starting off without getting negotiations or work done
