Imagine a world of chaos; a world where everything is sinister and out of order. A world where innocent people are pointlessly murdered. These could very well be the thoughts of a convicted killer. The kind of person that the death penalty rids the world of. Thanks to Capital Punishment, the world is a safer place. The death penalty is something that has been with this country since its birth, but has never been more controversial than now. An integral part of our country, Capital Punishment has been our way of dealing with dangerous criminals since the 1700’s, and as the last two decades have progressed, more and more of the populous wishes to abolish it. I believe, however, that we need to keep the death penalty to put the possibility of death into every killer’s mind. Nothing, in my opinion, is feared more than death. Men would rather spend a lifetime in jail than forced to die. Over the course of almost 300 years, there have been 5 different methods nationally used for the death penalty. First came hanging, which was followed by the electric chair and later the gas chamber. After those 3 came the firing squad and lethal injection. The most common of which being how much taxpayer money and personal money goes into each case, and what happens when innocent people are convicted. Although lots of money is spent towards the death penalty, can we place a monetary value on the safety of the general public? The murderer Ted Bundy escaped prison twice and would continue on killing sprees before finally being put to death in 1989. This is one of many examples of why the world is safer rid of these killers. 63% of people in the US say that they feel safer knowing that dangerous criminals are put to death instead of left locked up, however opposers still argue that there is no place in this century for Capital
