Why Do We Need Government

Government has been around for ages. Although there are many theories why government was first established, nevertheless we need government. We need government because of its beneficial purposes such as maintaining order, providing public services, and providing protection. Also through the film “Lord Of the Flies” we’ll see why we need government.

One of the reasons we need government is because it maintains order. What this means is that the government makes the rules and keeps us from defying them, meaning it prevents people committing harmful actions. Without anyone to maintain order people would do anything they want. In addition with people doing whatever they want things would quickly fall into chaos. As regular citizens we are in constant danger. There are many other nations surrounding that can suddenly attack us. In addition to the outside danger, internally we are also in danger There are many people that can inflict harm on us even in our own country. fortunately we have the government to provide us with protection against these forces utilizing services such as the army and the police. Although in “Lord of the Flies” many people were harmed, for a brief moment protection was being provided. When the kids are afraid of the so called monster Jack; the leader of the group protects the group by providing a sacrifice to the monster so it wouldn’t go after them. These are all the reasons why we need government.

It’s clear to see now government is needed. We need the government to help us maintain order, provide services, and provide protection. We also see in the film “Lord of the flies” why government was needed. Without a government our country would not be able to function.
