Language isn’t only used to communicate, it is also related to the cultural values that forge the identity of one’s self.
Identity is who we are and what distinguishes us from others, furthermore, it connects us to other groups that we have something in common with.
There are more than one type of identities such as, Social identity which is the part of us that needs a larger group that shares the same knowledge, values and ideas as us, to identifies itself with it. The concept of self, or who we are for ourselves is called Personal identity. And one more type is Enacted identity which is how other people see us while we’re communicating with them through language.
