Why do we have dreams? There’re different types of dreams, ones where you’re asleep, and dreams you have when you’re awake where people decide that they want to do something in their life, it’s a dream of theirs to complete this goal. These types of dreams give you a purpose in life. They give you something to aim for and something to push you forward. Some people might dream of becoming rich and having their own business, whereas others might simply dream of staying healthy throughout life. I’ve got many dreams but there’s one I’ve had since I was a child. It helped to push me forward, it moved me out of my comfort zone and caused me to do things that I would never have done without the dream. This dream was to move to America to play football (soccer) and …show more content…
I quickly learned that to get to places in America you need a car because it 's so big and there 's no public transport. The language is very different and English and maths felt like alien languages. These things made me really doubt my decision to move away from home. There were other problems, including a coach that thought we were training for a marathon, I 've never ran so much in my life! Eventually this caused me to become injured so I wasn 't allowed to play. This was a big problem for me because one if the main reasons I moved across the world was to play football. I became very negative again. I started to dislike everything about everyone and everything. I never wanted to leave the house. I complained about everything but never did anything to fix the problems. I was worried about getting injured again and I just wanted to go home, so that 's what I did. I completed the semester and went back to England on December 15th. This is possibly one of the worst decisions I 've ever made. It 's also possibly the best. I learnt to much about myself and my boundaries. I 'm not a lazy person. I wasn 't planning on just sitting around at home whilst everyone else got an education. So within two weeks of being back I had two part time waitressing jobs, and I was offered an amazing job as a photographer at a commercial photographers! However, I could see my friends in America were having fun. They were doing things and going places and I really started to miss everyone and everything. I had a return ticket booked for after Christmas so I changed the ticket so I could go for spring break. We went on a road trip from Ohio, through Kentucky, Virginia, North Carolina and eventually arrived at South Carolina. We had an absolutely amazing time and made memories we’ll never

After viewing the State of Consciousness section on "Dreams," the experiences I have had with dreams are more understandable now. For example, since I play fantasy football, I have had dreams in which I stressed over losing on fantasy football due to severe injuries for the players on my team or simply just mismanagement. Most importantly, these dreams typically occurred in Sunday night and several days afterwards, when football was still fresh in my mind. These dreams do make sense now as they are explained through the neurocognitive dream theory, which states that dreams share a lot with our thoughts and emotions (Domhoff, 2003. 2001). As I was worried about these games, especially in times when the football games were occurring, it is reasonable…

There is a host of theories as to why humans require sleep, as well as a similar variety of theories as to why sleep brings dreams. Some say that they are simulations - a means originally produced by the brain to help humans prepare for particular events they have yet to encounter in reality. Others say it is to de-stress the mind, to unravel the complicated webs of data collected through our senses throughout the day. Regardless of the specifics, I have always been a dreamer, and a vivid one at that.…
