The United states Dropped a Nuclear weapon on the japanese cities of hiroshima and nagasaki to try and get japan out of the war so they could focus on the more important battles with Germany. These bombings killed over 100,000 people. This showed all of the countries just how dangerous nuclear warfare can be. This got the Japanese army to surrender and no longer fight the Americans. The United States offered to help rebuild any of the wreckage caused by the mass bombings.This is one of the main reasons nobody actually used nuclear weapons in the cold war.
