Why Do Sports Players Get Paid More Than Soldiers

Professional sports players should be paid more than soldiers. Professional sports players work their whole lives to get the career that they have. They could be injured severely during a practice or a game. Once injured they could lose their jobs. They also do not get their money from the government, they are paid by sports fanatics. If the military was paid more than the sports players, it would promote violence. Professional athletes also spend thousands of dollars donating to charity. Athletes work their whole lives to be professional. On average, student athletes spend 40 hours a week training. They work to be their best. According to Business Insider, professional athletes spend over five hours a day in training. They have to constantly eat healthy, sweat, and go through a series of exercises to stay fit. If an athlete gains too much weight, it will slow their speed and ruin their career. If they are injured during a game, their career is postponed and so is their paycheck until they are …show more content…
By paying military personnel more than athletes, they are indirectly saying that violence is okay. When you promote sports, you are telling people to get out and stay in shape, but when you promote the military you are telling people to go into a war because violence is okay. You are practically saying that it is okay to go and kill people in a war but it is not okay to do it to your own people. What kind of world is that? Many people go into war ready to kill others while others go in fear of death or of failing their country. Sports players could die as easily as a military person could. Around 8,000 children are hospitalized due to sports related injuries, high school athletes suffer from over two million injuries, and about 1 of every 200,000 athletes die due to sports.
