It was happened in South Australia know as Ash Wednesday ll. It was a group of bushfire which happened in South Australia on 16 February 1983. More than 180 fired blew by the winds up to 110 km/h within twelve hours. That caused widespread destruction across the states of Victoria and South Australia.
In South Australia 28 people died and 47 more deaths in Victoria. This included 3 CFS and 14 CFA volunteer fire-fighters who died across both states that day. Many deceased were as a result of firestorm conditions because of the violent and sudden of wind change on that time which changed the direction and increase the size of the fire. Up to 8000 people have to abandon their place in Victoria.
Ash Wednesday was one of Australia's costliest natural disasters. It damaged and destroyed over 3700 buildings and over 2545 people lost their homes even the place to live. Livestock losses, lost a very high number of their animal with over 18000 lives of cow, 340000 lives of sheep and numerous native animals all dead.
