Why would sexual harassment victims make up accusations? One of the social issues recently in the news has been sexual harassment. According to the U.S. Equal Employment Opportunity Commission, sexual harassment “…is unwelcome sexual advances, requests for sexual favors, and other verbal or physical harassment of a sexual nature.” Sexual harassment has been going on for ages, but victims didn’t often report it. More recently, people have come out about the experiences they’ve had. Sexual harassment impacts a plethora of things, such as: morals, religious values, economics, community, family values, and the individual itself. Reports of sexual harassment cases has been increasing tremendously. In the news, recently has been Roy Moore, an Alabama judge. According to Michael …show more content…
In addition, there is another case of Moore touching a woman’s buttocks when she came into his law office. This crosses over multiple lines of morals and religious boundaries, also since Moore is known to be a religious man. With this in mind, a religious man would not do what is being stated by these women. In The News & Observer, Martha Quillin the author of the article, states that Moore said that he “absolutely” did not do it. Moore has not confessed to any accusations. On the other hand, there is multiple women who have come out to make these accusations. Sexual harassment makes a negative impact on an individual and the community. It breaks apart whoever is involved, like for example, what if it happens in a family? Everyone takes sides on who they think is telling the truth and who is lying.
