SUMMARY There are many different kinds of physicians and they all have to be fluent in mathematics. It is very important to their job and to their patients. If math is used incorrectly it may result in over dose or under dose of the patient and may cause many more problems for the physician or doctor.

Many people do not think that math is required in the medical field, however, they are incorrect. Math is used on a daily basis in medicine. A physician is a person who is qualified to practice medicine. Many people also call physicians, doctors. There are over twenty different types of physicians that do different things and each one of them have to use math. Physicians use math for writing prescriptions. With writing a prescription for a medication the physician must take into consideration of the patient’s BMI to

If the physician is to prescribe a patient medication, the physician needs to configure how much of the medication the patient needs to take in order for it to help them.
Oncologists also use mathematics in order to determine the different mutations of cancer and cancer treatments . Some forms of cancer may respond to a drug by mutating so that the drug no longer has any effect on DNA . When a patient has a cardiovascular problem, extensive mathematics is needed to help diagnose the problem.
There are also pediatricians. These doctors work with infants and adolescence. With having such smaller patients, these doctors have to use fractions, grams, centimeters, millimeters, and milligrams when being prescribed medications. Have you ever seen a pediatrician measure an infant or toddlers head, weigh them, or check their height? They have to use math to calculate the measurements and make sure that the patient is growing
