As officers, have been killed in the line of duty, John Milledge was killed and the killer was prosecuted until a few days ago, Miami police department has a special webpage dedicated to those who have been killed in the line of duty. An anonymous writer wrote “You are a true hero, not only to Miami, but to the rest of the world.” Showing that John Milledge may have not done much as a civil rights leader but accepted the fact that things where not going to change since they had they’re precinct on an apartment and the court would not allow them to arm themselves nor have a police car. He and the other black officers would arrest people and walk them from Overtown to the Police department. If Martin Luther King Jr. envisioned a better place where blacks and white were not segregated and work together, John Milledge put those words and put them into action as later on white police officers accepted and befriended black
