Why Do People Deny The Holocaust

Decent Essays
Many people deny the holocaust and what happened to the Jews between January 30, 1933 to May 8, 1945. All the evidence is there supporting the Holocaust the gas chambers are still there with gas residue inches thick the barracks are still standing. So you tell me how you can deny that one of the greatest historical events to have ever happened didn't happen or was greatly exaggerated. Not only did it happen but the SS were the ones recording the torture, murder, and cremation of thousands of innocent Jews and gypsies. Its not like the Jews are asking for sympathy they aren't asking for anything they want to forget it all

This way of looking at it is nowadays regarded as both proper and natural, the "normal human response. " But this was not the response of most Americans, even of American Jews, while the Holocaust was being carried out. Not only did the Holocaust have nowhere near the centrality in consciousness that it had from the 1970s on, but for the overwhelming majority of Americans — and, once again, this included a great many Jews as well — it barely existed as a singular event in its own right. The murderous actions of the Nazi regime, which killed between five and six million European Jews, were all too real. But "the Holocaust," as we speak of it today, was largely a retrospective construction, something that would not have been recognizable to most people at the time.…

People will say, “Oh that happened back then, there is no way it would happen again” or “ It is not a big deal, it happened forever ago.” When in reality, they do not want to admit the truth. And that goes for both the Rape of Nanjing and the Holocaust. Even though the Rape of Nanjing had its similarities with the…

People supported the Holocaust for many reasons. A reason is because they knew hitler was going to help them with getting through the great depression and to get back at other countries for making germany pay for ww1. They didn't know hitler was going to be killing jews and people to help the Germans get back their lands and shops. Hitler thought the jews were the cause of everything bad in his life and everything bad to his country so people believed him. Hitler also had very great speeches that people loved and made them think he was the best and strongest leader and would do great things for their country.…

“No One Left”, (www.scholastic.com/holocaust) Everybody was afraid of speaking out against Hitler and his Nazi’s. Here is the quote: “First they came after the communists, and I did not speak out, because i was not a communist. Then they came for the socialists, and I did not speak out - because I was not a socialist.” It goes on, referencing different groups, then it says; “ Then they came for me - and there was no one left to speak out for me.” So if Martin Niemoller, the one who said that, had spoke out when another group was attacked, maybe this whole thing wouldn’t have happened.…

"Fifty-three years ago, on July 16th, 1942, 450 French police and gendarmes, under the authority of their leaders responded to the demands of the Nazis. That day in the capital and in the Paris region, nearly (almost) 10,000 men, women and Jewish children were arrested at their homes at dawn and were gathered in police stations Were atrocious scenes: families shattered, mothers separated from their children, elderly people - including some veterans of the Great War which had shed their blood for France - Thrown ruthlessly in buses and trucks of the Prefecture de Police. Were also policemen that were made BLIND of the eye, allowing some to escape. For all the detainees, then begins the long and painful journey to hell.…

To teach a class about the holocaust and only show them "Life is beautiful" , would be like wanting to teach a class about World War Two and then show them a Disney movie. Not that it is a bad movie, it just does a very bad job of portraying the horrific events that occurred during the holocaust. This movie never once shows a prisoner being beaten or killed, we are left to assume that Guido was shot and left for dead. If you were just starting to learn about the holocaust and watched this movie you would think that it would have been easy for children like Guidos son Giosue to stay in the camps with their parents. If you could only show one film, this would not be a very wise choice because: it makes it seem like the Jews lived easy lives, it gives you the idea prisoners could easily defy the guards and act out, and it makes you think prisoners could easily hide children in the camps.…

The Holocaust was one of the most devestating events throughout history with an estimate of around six million deaths. Most people undoubtedly believe it happened, but there are a few people called revisionists who like to think people made the whole occurrence up. With factual information and evidence, you will come to accept the truth that many innocent people died through mass killings and genocides in an tragic event called the Holocaust. Many revisionists say the Nazis could not have killed that many Jewish people, the cremation ovens/gas chambers were not used, and photo and film were used as propaganda against the Germans and historians are too scared to tell that this was a hoax.…

Why should future generations know about the holocaust? The Holocaust was an unquestionable powerful event that all started with Hitler and the Nazis in Germany. Not only German Jews but all Jews were killed just because Hitler thought they didn’t match the characteristics of a natural born German Jew. This was such a tragic event that it should be widely known by all generations. People and children of younger generations should all be aware that this happened in order to stop future events such as the Holocaust to happen again.…

    What Is Holocaust Denial?

Holocaust denial Is an attempt to negate the already established facts of the holocaust. Ultimately, along with holocaust distortion, it is a form of antisemitism. Generally, they are motivated by anti semitism and are generated by the thought that the whole catastrophe was created by the Jew to gain international sympathy and attention. Holocaust denial, distortion, and misuse all undermine the understanding of history. Holocaust denial, distortion, and misuse are strategies certain groups have come up with and used to make people care less about and give less sympathy to the Jews, to undermine the legitimacy of the State of Israel, to plant seeds of doubt towards the Jews and the Holocaust, and to draw more attention towards particular issues…

When autobiographies are too bizarre, readers tend to believe that the story is fiction. The novella Night is an autobiography about Elie Wiesel and his struggle through the world’s largest genocide, the Holocaust. However, some people do not believe that the novella is an autobiography, but rather a fictional story about a fictional character in the Holocaust setting. The novella, Night, by Elie Wiesel should be read as a nonfiction autobiography because of the shocking similarities between the novella and the German genocide, and because other survivors share the same story. Before discussing the argument, there are a few key facts that need to be spread out on the table.…

The United States Holocaust Memorial Museum stated, “Holocaust denial is an attempt to negate the established facts of the Nazi genocide of European Jewry.” Many revisionists deny the Holocaust events completely; however, there are distinct denial assertions that are made by other revisionists. “Key denial assertions are: that the murder of approximately six million Jews during World War II never occurred, that the Nazis had no official policy or intention to exterminate the Jews, and that the poison gas chambers in Auschwitz-Birkenau death camp never existed” (United States Holocaust Memorial Museum, n.d.). Holocaust denial has been argued for decades, “Holocaust Denial first became apparent in France. Fascist writers wrote books about allied war propaganda, saying the evidence regarding hat concentration camps and the…
