There are people that argue that college athletes are paid enough by the scholarships that they acquire to the big Universities. They are worth according to Jeffery Dorfman author of “Pay College Athletes? They’re Already Paid Up To $125,000 Per Year” he argues that “a student athlete at a major conference school on full scholarship is likely receiving a package of education, room, board, and coaching/training worth between $50,000 and $125,000 per year depending on their sport and whether they attend a public or private university” (Dorfman). People don’t believe that there should be money going into these athletes pockets because they are on scholarships and that should be enough. But these scholarships are covering the basic things like books and dorm and other school things for a non-athlete student if they needed money they could get a job but athletes don’t have the time for that leaving them with no money for them to have But for many athletes this is still not enough to help them out not everyone has the same scholarships so there is a lot of varying different things that athletes get to in

There are a lot of athletes that are living very close to the poverty line because they are unable to receive anything in the study “The Price of Poverty in Big Time College Sport” it states that “Duke basketball players were valued at $1,025,656 while living just $732 above the poverty line and had a $3,624 scholarship shortfall” (The Price of Poverty in Big Time College Sport). A lot of athletes do not come from money so when they come to play for these universities that are out of state and away from home they are stuck with surviving off whatever the scholarship allows them to have and depending on what type of scholarship they are on it might not be enough.
