Why Do Parents Should Not Pay In College Essay

The discussion about the role parents should pay in their child’s tuition for college has been a hot topic recently. On one side of the argument, legal battles have even came up over children suing their parents for financial aid. Contrarily, many believe that parents should not have to pay the tuition. People have begun to ask themselves big questions such as: at what age should parents let their kids go? Do parents hold a certain responsibility for paying for their children after they turn eighteen? Of course, these answers will be different for every family, but should it be the standard? With all considered, parents should not be responsible for their children’s college tuition because it is an adult’s responsibility and is a financial burden to parents. An opinion shared by both sides is that a parent’s job is to prepare their children for the real world. While there are different ways a parent can do this, the best way to do it is to treat them like an adult. Life doesn’t get any easier after college, so students should get a grip on their financial education early on. If parents were to hold the entire responsibility of tuition, the child will have learnt nothing about how adults handle money in the real world.
